Second Eastern European Business Forum

Integration via entrepreneurship

It is our pleasure to invite you to the Second Eastern European Business Forum that will take place on February 7, 2009, at 10 am at DIT, Aungier Street, Dublin 2. This event is organised by the Irish-Russian Enterprise Centre (IREC) in partnership with Institute of Minority Entrepreneurship (DIT).

Feedback from the first Forum (12 April 2008) confirmed that it was a great success and we received a lot of requests to run the Forum again this year. You can find all information on the last Forum, presentations and register for the upcoming on this site. The first Forum, held in April ‘08 attracted over 200 participants and we expect in excess of 300 for our second forum.

It is not about numbers though. All participants will be existing business owners or those who are planning to start their own business in the near future. These are people who need and seek various services which you maybe able to provide to them.

The main objectives of this Forum are to enhance communication of Eastern European existing and emerging businesses in Ireland not only with existing state structures but also with local businesses and to demonstrate to these entrepreneurs on how they can avail of support, training, information, advice, funding, etc. It is our intention that the Forum will serve the general purpose of better integrating the Eastern European community into Irish society.

The network of Eastern European, published in Ireland (titles include Lithuanian, Latvian, Russian and Polish papers) is one of our main sponsors, and the Forum is being heavily publicised through ethnic mass media in Ireland as well as local Irish media. The last Forum was also included in the calendar of events published in Metro Eireann, Herald AM. Information on it was also published in Business & Finance Magazine.

The main theme of the first Forum was “Starting your own business”; this second Forum will be mainly about “Growing Your Business”. It will involve three seminars on the topics that, based on the feedback received after the first Forum, are of interest for the participants. Seminars will be run by representatives of various business support structures and will involve about 30 minutes presentation and Q&A section.

The topics of the first forum were: financing, small business support, business planning, networking and communications. Seminars to be addressed at the second Forum are:

BASICS OF TAXATION AND ACCOUNTING;

WRITING A GOOD BUSINESS PLAN;

HOW TO FINANCE BUSINESS DEVELOPMENT

Most participants who attended the first Forum wanted more time for networking and communication. For this reason, we decided to reserve the afternoon for exhibition and networking. Also, there will be short presentations by our main sponsors.

You will find all necessary information on registration, participation and sponsorship as well as contact details on this site

Thank you and we are hoping to see you in DIT on 7th February 2009.
